Valve Function and Design Advantages

This globe valve handles throttling and modulating fluid flow where precise control matters most. The pressure seal bonnet tightens automatically as system pressure rises, which improves leak resistance. Cast steel construction adds durability and resists thermal stress, so the valve stands up well in severe operating conditions.

Pre-Installation Inspection

Inspection comes first. Examine the valve for cracks, damage to seating surfaces, or stem misalignment. Remove all protective covers and clean the interior to clear any dirt or debris from shipping.

Confirm that the valve size, pressure rating, and material match the system design exactly. Review all tags and documents supplied with the valve to verify they meet the project specifications.

Correct Flow Direction

Globe valves require installation in the proper flow direction. The high pressure seal cast steel globe valve normally carries an arrow cast on the body to show the correct path. For throttling service, pressure should enter under the seat. For isolation duty, pressure can enter over the seat.

Wrong orientation leads to faster stem wear, weak sealing, and early valve failure. Getting this step right remains simple yet essential.

Pipe Alignment and Valve Positioning

The pipeline must stay aligned and properly supported before the valve goes in. Misalignment puts extra stress on the valve body or flanges, which can cause leaks or shorten service life.

Install the valve upright so the handwheel or actuator stays easy to reach for operation and maintenance. In high-temperature systems, allow room for thermal expansion and use adequate pipe supports to avoid transferring movement stress to the valve.

Flange Connection and Sealing

Connect the valve using high-quality gaskets rated for the pressure and temperature conditions. Clean the flange faces completely and check for scratches or pitting. Tighten bolts in a criss-cross pattern to spread load evenly across the gasket.

For valves with pressure seal bonnets, avoid over-tightening the seal ring at installation. Too much compression can damage the seal, while too little may allow leakage. Always follow the manufacturer's recommended torque values and guidelines.
